Staying up-to-date with legislation and standards is essential for manufacturers. Being able to participate in shaping these developments increasingly marks a competitive advantage.

The Eurovent Association not only provides you with all important information at the right time through our newsletters and activities, but also gives you the opportunity to influence standards and legislation on a national, European Union and international level within a truly democratic decision-making structure.

On a technical level, this is taking place within Eurovent’s Product and Issue Groups. As a member of Eurovent, any representative of your organisation can participate in these activities. Each participating manufacturer receives one vote, independent from the size of its organisation.

Product Groups

Manufacturers within Product Groups…

  • Actively participate in the development of European (e.g. Ecodesign) and international legislation
  • Join forces to develop ‘codes of good practice’ for the industry (known as ‘Eurovent Recommendations’), which later find their ways into standards and legislations
  • Share their expertise across borders, contributing to a true level-playing field and markets with less barriers
  • Meet up with their colleagues from around Europe and beyond, to elaborate on developments within their markets

Issue Groups (EU-Legislation focussed)

Issue Groups cover wider horizontal issues that cannot be assigned to a certain product area. This can include export markets in which our industry has common interests, but also European Union legislation. This is because European Regulations or Directives tend to not only regulate one particular product area, but several ones. As EU decision-makers appreciate an industry-wide position, and as Eurovent wants to avoid conflicting positions within Product Groups, wide-ranging issues (e.g. EU regulations) can be covered within Eurovent ‘Issue Groups’.

Organisations within Issue Groups…

  • Actively shape developments within international markets (e.g. Middle East) or horizontal issues (e.g. Ecodesign) of particular relevance)
  • Provide political decision-makers with information necessary to draft legislations and standards that match industrial realities.
  • Share their expertise across borders, contributing to a true level-playing field towards markets with less barriers.
  • Meet up with their colleagues that are also affected by an issue from around Europe, the Middle East and Africa to elaborate on developments within their markets.

Characteristics

Other than Product Groups, Issue Groups are…

  • Fully project-based with a specialised Project Manager that invests a significant amount of time in working for the Issue Group and its participants
  • Set-up ad-hoc with a clear start/end date and concrete deliverables
  • Self-funding through participation fees

Project Manager

Issue Groups are being managed by a dedicated Project Manager or Director, who is reporting to the Eurovent Association in Brussels.
