The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and authorities from Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden have released a progress update on the process to restrict PFAS in Europe.

The official minutes of the plenary meeting in November 2024 have been distributed. The Netherlands and France are in the meantime regulating PFAS at the national level.
Following the EU elections results and the appointment of the prospective College of Commissioners, the European Parliament has submitted a written questionnaire to the Commissioners-designate on their proposed agenda.
The official minutes of the last Plenary meetings of ECHA’s Committees regarding the PFAS restriction proposal have been circulated. Fluorinated gases should be addressed in 2025.
ECHA organised a plenary meeting from 03-06 June 2024. The fluorinated gases will be addressed later this year and the President of the European Commission informed about the vision of the Commission on the PFAS restriction.
ECHA informed that the national authorities of the PFAS restriction dossier submitters are using the information provided by stakeholders from the six-month consultation to update their initial restriction proposal.
The German Federal Ministry for the Environment released a new indicative timeline for the legislative process of the restriction proposal on the use and production of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has opened a six-month consultation on the PFAS restriction proposal, prepared by the Danish, German, Dutch, Norwegian and Swedish authorities. The consultation closes on 25 September 2023.
