European Chemicals Agency will identify harmful chemicals in packaging and, when requested, propose restrictions on their use. These responsibilities come from the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, on 11 February 2025.

A Directors’ meeting was held at the EU Commission to discuss the circular economy. During the meeting, potential pillars for the Circular Economy Act were discussed.

On 24 October 2024, Commission Decision (EU) 2024/2779 was published in the Official Journal, establishing the new Ecodesign Forum pursuant to the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).
The Commission has published a clarification on how energy-labelled products should show energy label classes in their visual advertising and promotional material, following a European Court of Justice ruling from October 2023.
