Brussels, 15 October 2024. The Eurovent Product Group ‘Liquid Chilling Packages and Heat Pumps’ (PG-LCP-HP) has published a new Recommendation 18/3, which interprets the standard EN 14825:2022 for process chillers.
Members of the Product Group ‘Liquid Chilling Packages and Heat Pumps’ assessed the EN 14825 standard to define the maximum uncertainty of measurement for process chillers. Preceding their findings, they created Recommendation 18/3 to provide clarity to the market about the correct interpretation of the standard EN 14825:2022 regarding the tolerances to consider when performing tests on process chillers.
The PG-LCP-HP Vice-Chairperson Mariano Covolo elaborated that: “I am pleased to see, once again, the Eurovent capability to collect, evaluate and make sound propositions in front of various issues. In this case, the doubt comes from the daily application of an important standard. The question on tolerance at partial load for process chillers appeared initially within a national mirror group of our PG-LCP-HP, where the participants reported their troubles performing tests, then, the question escalated to the European group. As a result, with the commendable support of the Eurovent staff, manufacturers, independent laboratories, and other experts eventually agreed on drafting this Recommendation so that the treatment for process chillers and comfort chillers are now more aligned.”
The Eurovent Product Group ‘Liquid Chilling Packages and Heat Pumps’ (PG-LCP-HP) deals with advocacy on European and national legislation concerning these products. It is also engaged with the development of EN, ISO and Eurovent standards, the promotion of the industry and its export initiatives, and diminishing unfair trade barriers inside and outside Europe.
