Brussels, 17 December 2024. Eurovent has released a quick guide to European incentives for the installation of mechanical ventilation systems during renovations of single-family homes and apartment buildings.
Several European Member States have put in place dedicated support schemes for building renovations, most of which are co-financed by the European Union. In many of these countries, support is also available for the installation of mechanical ventilation systems. The new Eurovent publication provides an overview of the different types of support available across Europe, including the types of ventilation systems covered.
Stijn Renneboog, the Eurovent Deputy Secretary General stated: “It is important that financial incentives for residential renovations support ventilation improvements as well. Mechanical ventilation systems can help lower heating bills and improve Indoor Air Quality, which is especially important as improvements to the building envelope make the building more airtight. If not compensated for with better controlled ventilation, this could have dire consequences for the health and wellbeing of the occupants, as well as the integrity of the building. This is why we promulgate the slogan ‘no renovation without ventilation’.”
Financial support is needed to trigger renovations, especially in residential buildings. This is because, although renovations have many benefits, they come with a high upfront price tag. Financial support programmes for ventilation improvements are important measures to reduce carbon emissions, lower energy bills, and improve the health and wellbeing of building occupants.
