Brussels, 28 January 2025. Eurovent has released a new Recommendation 1/14 on the performance tests of very large axial fans in the context of Ecodesign requirements. The Recommendation was created in a joint effort by Eurovent and AMCA Europe.
This first edition of the Eurovent/AMCA Recommendation 1/14 provides an explanation of the problem of testing large axial fans according to the standards, gives lectures analysis about the subject, and also provides a solution suggestion for the problem as a code of good practice.
Mr Uwe Sigloch, Chairperson of the Eurovent Product Group ‘Fan Technology’, mentioned that: “The Ecodesign Regulation for fans specifies minimum efficiency levels for fans with an electrical input power ranging from 125 Watts to 500 kW. However, the method for determining efficiency is not described in the regulation. Currently, there are no internationally recognised standards for performance measurement of very large axial fans. To address this, Eurovent has formulated a recommendation for performance measurement of very large fans. This recommendation leads to reproducible values and establishes a level playing field for all manufacturers placing such kind of fans on the European market.”
The AMCA Europe Chair of the Advocacy Committee, Mr Harald Rudelgass added that: “We are pleased to release the first joint statement by AMCA Europe and the Eurovent Product Group Fan Technology. The collaboration between our two associations has proven to be highly successful, allowing us to reach a broad spectrum of experts. We view this cooperation as an excellent example of how we can continue to work successfully together and further strengthen our partnership in the future.”
The Eurovent Recommendation 1/14 was prepared by the Eurovent Product Group ‘Fan Technology’ (PG-FANS) and members of AMCA Europe. The document can be downloaded free of charge on the Eurovent website.
The Eurovent PG-FANS is home to more than 20 European manufacturers of fans, industrial fans, fan units, dryers and related components. On a national level, it has the support of the Eurovent Member Associations. AMCA Europe (AMCA International) is a not-for-profit association of manufacturers of fans, louvres, dampers, air curtains, airflow measurement devices, ducts, acoustic attenuators, and other air-system components.
