New harmonised standards under the Machinery Directive (MD) were published in the EU Official Journal on 15 May. These include the reference to EN IEC 60335-2-89 for commercial refrigerating appliances.

The 2023 Machinery Regulation was adopted and published in the Official Journal of the EU on 29 June 2023. It will replace the Machinery Directive and better covers new technologies and their impact on safety, such as Artificial Intelligence and robotics.
