Europe’s leading HVACR sector association initiates celebration year

Oslo, 24 May 2018. In 2018, Eurovent entered the 60th year since the foundation of the association. During its ongoing Annual Meeting in Oslo, the industry federation has officially initiated its celebration year, which will be accompanied by a temporary corporate design change, dedicated articles and guest commentaries in the ClimaNovela newsletter, and a campaign called ‘#Sweet60’ on LinkedIn. The celebration months will be concluded with a 60th anniversary event for all members, partners, and friends at the Eurovent Summit in Seville on 27 September.

Discussion on material efficiencies, MEErP and FAQ professional refrigeration

On 16 May 2018, the European Commission provided the draft minutes of three Consultation Forum meetings (lighting, washing machines, dishwashers) held in December 2017. Among the relevant abstracts are enclosed: General and the discussion on material efficiency. Of note too is the updated FAQ on professional refrigeration.

Revised technical background document and second criteria proposal

In advance of the second Ad-Hoc Working Group (AHWG2) meeting to be held in the format of a webinar on 29 and 30 May 2018, the second criteria proposals have been published on the JRC Product Bureau website.

The proposed Primary Energy Factor is being questioned

On 17 January 2018, the European Parliament has adopted a set of amendments regarding the revision of the EED. Besides the overall objectives, the European Parliament proposed to lower the Primary Energy Factor (PEF), which is at 2,5 today. It appears like an agreement would be found to move to 2,3. The consequences are not yet fully understood.
