On 15-17 May 2023, Eurovent’s decision-making bodies met in Rotterdam for its Annual Meeting to discuss issues concerning regulations, developments and the future of the association.

The April 2023 edition of the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) newsletter - including three new SRI factsheets related to the Domestic Hot Water, Electricity, and Monitoring & Control technical domains - has been released.

The European Environment Agency has published the ‘Annual EU greenhouse gas inventory 1990-2021 and inventory report 2023’, which is the EU’s official submission of greenhouse gas emission data to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).  

The European Parliament adopted the position on revising the EU’s legislative framework on fluorinated gases (F-Gases) with 426 votes in favour, 109 against and 52 abstentions.

On behalf of the European Commission, Öko-Recherche is working on a series of analysis evaluating the implementation of the F-Gas Regulation (EU) No 517/2014 since 2015. The Q3/2022 report has been recently shared with Eurovent.

The six-month consultation on the restriction proposal, prepared by the Danish, German, Dutch, Norwegian and Swedish authorities, opened on 22 March 2023 and closes on 25 September 2023 (23:59 Helsinki time).

Eurovent attended the 2nd stakeholders meeting hosted by the European Commission DG ENER – Unit B2 ‘Energy Efficiency’, on the ‘Technical assistance EED provisions of reporting requirements on the energy performance and sustainability of data centres’. 

On 01 March 2023, the European Parliament’s Committee for Environment (ENVI) adopted its report on the Revision of the F-Gas Regulation with 64 votes in favour, 8 against and 7 abstentions. All the compromised amendments were adopted.

At the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Consultation Forum meeting of 28 February 2023, the European Commission presented its working document for a new Implementing Regulation laying down operational details for EPREL. 

On 7 February 2023, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published the PFAS restriction proposal. It holds suggestions for an unlimited exemption for refrigerants in HVACR equipment in buildings, where national safety standards and building codes prohibit the use of alternatives.
