Former Eurovent Vice-President passed away on 8 January

Mr Javier Fernández de Bordons, former Eurovent Vice-President and Board Member of Eurovent Certita Certification, suddenly passed away on 8 January 2021. A great HVACR industry leader and a true gentleman, Javier was a valued long-term member of the Eurovent family. In the lines below, Eurovent’s Secretary General Felix Van Eyken looks back at his time at Eurovent and commemorates his commitment and efforts.

Eurovent REC 14/6 provides interpretation of new Ecodesign and Energy Labelling measures

Eurovent has released the first edition of the Eurovent Recommendation 14/6 – Interpretation of Regulation (EU) 2019/2018 and of Regulation (EU) 2019/2024. The Recommendation provides the European Commission with industry input for the future guidelines accompanying Regulations (EU) 2019/2018 and (EU) 2024/2019.

Eurovent PG-RT’s Vice-Chairman is Alberto Bellù (Mitsubishi Electric Hydronics & IT Cooling Systems S.p.A.)

Eurovent’s recently launched Product Group ‘Rooftop Units’ (PG-RT) has elected its first Chairman and Vice-Chairman during its second meeting on 16 November 2020. The Group’s Chairman is Mr Filip Konieczny (Ventilation and Air Conditioning Manager / Export Technical Specialist at FLOWAIR). He will be supported by the PG-RT Vice-Chairman Mr Alberto Bellù (Product Manager Rooftop & Air Handling Units at Mitsubishi Electric Hydronics & IT Cooling Systems S.p.A.).

The European HVACR industry association extends its scope of representation

Brussels, 03 November 2020. Following a formal approval of the Eurovent Board of Directors, J2 Innovations, provider of control and management software for HVACR equipment, has joined Eurovent (Association for Indoor Climate, Process Cooling and Food Cold Chain Technologies) as its newest Associate Member.

Eurovent Associate Member to elaborate on new compliance regulations for UK market

Eurovent’s Associate Member UL is organising a webinar on the new compliance regulations in relation to Brexit. The event will take place on Wednesday, 21 October 2020, 10:00-11:00h (CEST) and aims to help manufacturers to navigate market access requirements through the Brexit transition. Eurovent members and partners are cordially invited to take part.

Dr. Thomas Caesar (Freudenberg Filtration Technologies) commences second term as group’s Vice-Chairman

During its meeting on 29 September 2020, the Eurovent Product Group ‘Air Filters’ (PG-FIL) elected Dr. Marc Schmidt (Vice President Technologies Europe, AAF International) as its new Chairman. He is joined by Dr. Thomas Caesar (Director Global Filter Engineering, Freudenberg Filtration Technologies), who was re-elected for his second term as PG-FIL Vice-Chairman.

Dedicated market report by Eurovent Market Intelligence

In order to help manufacturers gain certainty, Eurovent Market Intelligence (EMI) will publish a report analysing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the European HVACR industry at the end of September. The report will include results of a recently launched EMI survey targeting HVACR product manufacturers. The survey runs until 11 September 2020. Interested manufacturers are encouraged to participate.

Introduction to the establishment of the European Climate Policy Framework

Ms Charlotte van de Water, Expert Energy & Climate for Buildings in Eurovent Belgian Member Association Agoria, regularly updates the members of Agoria explaining the links between the European and national policies. Her most recent update looks at how European Climate Policy Framework and budgets are now impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. The members are strongly recommended to read this introduction as it provides for a background to the ongoing evolutions at European level, which are often forgotten when dealing with specific directives, regulations or implementing and delegated acts.

Analysis of different recommendations on operation and maintenance of HVAC systems

Many authorities and associations are publishing guidance documents on how to operate and maintain HVAC systems considering the COVID-19 pandemic. These guidance documents are updated at irregular intervals. An analysis of a selection of these guidance documents shows inconsistencies between them, but also a common core of recommendations: to increase ventilation rates, extend operating times, and limit recirculation.
