The European Commission has started this project on resource efficiency in building in 2015. Since the Public Consultation started the Joint Research Centre (JRC) has published the technical background Working Paper 2 on indicators.

In earlier documents we pointed out the proliferation of national and European initiatives regarding resource efficiency, environmental product declarations and public consultations that are likely to influence the development of future legislation. The enclosed report suggests the first steps towards an improved coherence and governance structure at EU level. It provides ideas and thoughts that could be used in future in particular in relation to the renovation of EU building stock.

This conference took place at the same time as the Eurovent General Assembly. It sought to get the views and ideas from Member States and stakeholders on the functioning of the Single Market.

On 8 July 2015 these regulations were published.  The first tier for Ecodesign applies from 1 July 2016, the second on 1 July 2018 and the third on 1 July 2019. The related draft communication with the references to standards, draft standards and transitional methods proposed by the Joint Industry Experts Group (JIEG) has been made available.

The application of the 2015/1535/EU (previously Directive 98/34/EC Directive) has also been extended to new standardisation work undertaken by National Standard Bodies (AENOR, AFNOR, DIN, UNI…) at national level. These notifications are registered centrally by the CEN Management Centre and a "Monthly Notifications Register" is circulated in English to the CEN Members and the European Commission. The National Standard Body generally provides the relevant associations with a copy of these updates.

The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the Internal Market for Goods (enforcement and compliance), as announced in the Single Market Strategy. This consultation seeks stakeholders’ feedback on the extent of product non-compliance, and the underlying reasons of this issue in different sectors, the impact of this problem, as well as the adequate actions to address non-compliance.

Eurovent and its member associations publish first European-wide Statement of Principles

Brussels, 27 June 2016. During the 2016 Eurovent Annual Meeting in Verona, the Eurovent Commission, the committee of national member associations, has finalised their first European-wide Statement of Principles on an industry that thinks ‘Beyond HVACR’. The document acts as a basis for decisions taken by the Eurovent association and is recognised by its member associations on a national level. It incorporates wider industry perspectives, statements on key policy issues, and visions that help to ensure a true level-playing field.
