Last week, the energy ministers adopted the Council’s negotiating positions (general approaches) on the Renewable Energy Directive and the Energy Efficiency Directive based on the compromise texts prepared by the French Presidency and Germany’s amendment on the EED.

After quite the substantial delay, the European Commission, and their contracted consultants from Trinomics, Oeko-Institut, and DTU, finalised and officially published the ‘Policy support for heating and cooling decarbonisation’ study.

The revision fits within the current Ecodesign Framework Directive 2009/125, and it looks to update the environmental data sets for the EcoReportTool. It also considers the possibility to include material efficiency aspects and of environmental footprint/ecological profile aspects. 

During the 2022 Eurovent Annual meeting in Malaga, Spain, the Eurovent Commission appointed Ilkka Salo, Managing Director of Talteka, its Vice-Chairman. He will be supporting the continuing Chairman Lennart Ostergaard, Senior Manager of VELTEK Ventilation.

The EPBD file is progressing in both the Council and Parliament. The Council appears poised to water down the proposal of the Commission, whereas the EP seems likely to call for more ambition and higher focus on social aspects and co-benefits, including Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ).
