On 03 May 2021, the European Commission submitted to Member States representatives under the ‘comitology’ procedure a ‘Commission decision on a sectoral reference document on best environmental management practices (BEMPs) for the fabricated metal products manufacturing sector’.

Public consultation by Commission and by Trinomics until 09 June 2021

The Sustainable Products Initiative (SPI) is a key part of the new Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP), one of the main flagships of the European Green Deal, and a pillar of the New Industrial Strategy for Europe. Through the public consultation, the Commission and Trinomics are gathering opinions from the public and stakeholders on the main policy options for a proposal of a Sustainable Products Directive that might be published still before the end of 2021.

Call for papers until 14 November 2021

After two events outside Europe (2017 USA, 2019 China), the 11th International Conference on Energy Efficiency in Domestic Appliances and Lighting (EEDAL) conference returns to Europe in 2021. The pandemic has obliged EEDAL to move its conference from November 2021 to June 2022. It would offer an opportunity to address Indoor Environmental Quality for a public that involves policy makers.

Organisations emphasise use of ISO 16890 as reference standard for general ventilation

Brussels, Paris, Dubai, 19 May 2021. Eurovent, in cooperation with Eurovent Middle East and Eurovent Certita Certification, will host a dedicated webinar tailor-made for Africa, Middle East, India and Southeast Asia. The webinar will outline the importance of adherence to latest standards in air conditioning and ventilation. Special focus will be placed on the application of the newest air filtration standard ISO 16890, which has replaced EN 779 and other international standards in recent years.

New version of PRODUCTION (1.45.0)

New version of EPREL (UI: 1.45.0) has been released in the PRODUCTION environment on Monday, 17 May 2021. Release notes of this version previously released in the ACCEPTANCE environment.

Project in final phase requesting contributions by 31 May

The main objective of the ANTICSS project is to detect and prevent circumvention behaviour. Within the project the notions of circumvention and jeopardy effects have been identified. A few Room Air Conditioners and Liquid Chilling Packages have been subjected to applicable and alternative testing to detect circumvention, as have been other products. The consultants are now looking for the industry views on the recommendations they would present to the policy makers.

The study for the Working Plan 2020-2024 ran from March 2020 until April 2021. The final reports and the minutes of the 2nd and last stakeholder meeting held on 26 March 2021 have also been published on the project website. Note that a consultation on the related Roadmap is open until 2 June 2021 (see GEN – 1236.00).

Eurovent has requested access to this draft and would receive this by 7 June at latest.
