The European Commission is seeking feedback on the draft delegated act establishing the technical screening criteria under the Taxonomy Regulation. These technical screening criteria specify the conditions under which particular economic activities qualify as sustainable. They include activities in the HVACR sector. The draft act is open for feedback until 18 December 2020.
Eurovent has released the first edition of the Eurovent Recommendation 14/6 – Interpretation of Regulation (EU) 2019/2018 and of Regulation (EU) 2019/2024. The Recommendation provides the European Commission with industry input for the future guidelines accompanying Regulations (EU) 2019/2018 and (EU) 2024/2019.
Eurovent’s recently launched Product Group ‘Rooftop Units’ (PG-RT) has elected its first Chairman and Vice-Chairman during its second meeting on 16 November 2020. The Group’s Chairman is Mr Filip Konieczny (Ventilation and Air Conditioning Manager / Export Technical Specialist at FLOWAIR). He will be supported by the PG-RT Vice-Chairman Mr Alberto Bellù (Product Manager Rooftop & Air Handling Units at Mitsubishi Electric Hydronics & IT Cooling Systems S.p.A.).
The Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Committee and the Energy Labelling Expert Group have voted/discussed the draft omnibus amendment to several 2019 Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Regulations. These draft acts aim to amend several pieces of legislation, those of relevance for Eurovent are (EU) 2019/2024 – (EU) 2019/2018 (refrigerating appliances with a direct sales function).
After two events outside Europe (2017 USA, 2019 China), the 11th International Conference on Energy Efficiency in Domestic Appliances and Lighting (EEDAL) conference returns to Europe in 2021. In 2021, EEDAL will be organised jointly with the International Symposium on Science and Technology of Lighting and will take place from 8 to 10 November in Toulouse, France.
Ongoing European activities related to the HVACR industry - updateThe European Consultations start with a ‘Roadmap/Inception Impact Assessment’ followed by a ‘Public Consultation’. The Roadmap looks for general comments of the interested persons and stakeholders. The Consultation is the second phase and consists of detailed questionnaires. The industry benefits from responding to these Consultations.
The recent meetings on the Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP) and the Methodology of Ecodesign for Energy related Products (MEErP) address material efficiency. In response to the European Standardisation M/543, the joint CEN/CLC/TC 10 has developed a set of standards dealing with Material Efficiency Aspects for Ecodesign.
The Circular Economy Stakeholder Conference took place on 3 and 4 November and was attended by Orgalim. From the summary made by Orgalim, the main elements for the HVACR industry have been abstracted. These are complemented with the first elements relating to the revision of the MEErP.
On Monday, 9 November 2020, the European Parliament adopted the Recovery and Resilience Facility, as part of the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) to tackle the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. The final adoption requires agreement of all 27 Member States and should be forthcoming. In addition to the earlier communication on the RRF, the Commission has now published guidance and templates that Member States can use if they wish to qualify for funding. It is reminded that the national proposals must be introduced by 30 April 2021.
