COVID-19 safety measures extended to 31 December 2020

In order to safeguard the health and wellbeing of Eurovent members and partners during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to provide for certainty regarding planned meetings, it has been decided to continue hosting all Eurovent meetings virtually until the end of the calendar year. Further updates will be communicated to members in due time.

Dedicated market report by Eurovent Market Intelligence

In order to help manufacturers gain certainty, Eurovent Market Intelligence (EMI) will publish a report analysing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the European HVACR industry at the end of September. The report will include results of a recently launched EMI survey targeting HVACR product manufacturers. The survey runs until 11 September 2020. Interested manufacturers are encouraged to participate.

Work on updating expected to be finished by the end of 2020

The first Blue Guide was issued in 2000. It provides for a better understanding of EU product rules and aims to support a uniform and coherent application across different sectors and throughout the single market. Even though the Blue Guide is a non-binding document, it is very often referred to for guidance by Member States, the Commission and stakeholders. The update takes into account the legislative developments since its 2016 edition.

First Global & Virtual Natural Refrigerants Trade Show to take place on 1 September 2020

Eurovent has partnered up with ATMOsphere / shecco to participate in the first Global Virtual Trade Show of its kind on 1 September 2020. Eurovent has become an official partner of the event and will be present with its own virtual booth. Attendance is free of charge.

Introduction to the establishment of the European Climate Policy Framework

Ms Charlotte van de Water, Expert Energy & Climate for Buildings in Eurovent Belgian Member Association Agoria, regularly updates the members of Agoria explaining the links between the European and national policies. Her most recent update looks at how European Climate Policy Framework and budgets are now impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. The members are strongly recommended to read this introduction as it provides for a background to the ongoing evolutions at European level, which are often forgotten when dealing with specific directives, regulations or implementing and delegated acts.

Bulletin provides comprehensive overview on all European legislative developments for members

In cooperation with Orgalim, the Eurovent Team regularly provides you with an in-depth overview on all European legislative developments of relevance for the HVACR sector. The Bulletin provides for a hands-on compendium allowing the industry to assess the status quo and expected future developments. In addition to recent sector specific issues, our Team has summarised some of the key takeaways within this article.

Analysis of different recommendations on operation and maintenance of HVAC systems

Many authorities and associations are publishing guidance documents on how to operate and maintain HVAC systems considering the COVID-19 pandemic. These guidance documents are updated at irregular intervals. An analysis of a selection of these guidance documents shows inconsistencies between them, but also a common core of recommendations: to increase ventilation rates, extend operating times, and limit recirculation.

Putting people’s health and well-being at the centre of the EU built environment

Together with other European industry associations, Eurovent has prepared a joint Manifesto, with the objective to collectively promote healthy buildings with an adequate level of Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ), and to safeguard the wellbeing of EU citizens. The Manifesto is a result of joint work of the IEQ Gathering that brings together eight European industry associations, representing organisations involved in technical building systems and their maintenance.

PG-RT to focus on revision of Regulation (EU) 2016/2281

Eurovent is launching a new Product Group ‘Rooftop Units’ (PG-RT) at the request of members active in this product field. In the near term, the PG-RT will focus on the revision of Regulation (EU) 2016/2281, which is supposed to start by the end of 2020, and the assessment of the rooftop unit sector and its technologies.

Three phases of border controls introduced starting January 2021

Following the meeting of the EU-UK Withdrawal Agreement Joint Committee on Friday, 12 June 2020, the United Kingdom has formally notified the European Union that it will neither accept nor seek any extension to the current Transition Period ending on 31 December 2020.
