Revised technical background document and second criteria proposal

In advance of the second Ad-Hoc Working Group (AHWG2) meeting to be held in the format of a webinar on 29 and 30 May 2018, the second criteria proposals have been published on the JRC Product Bureau website.

The preparatory ENTR Lot 9 study on “enterprise servers” that ran between 2013 and 2015 did not result in a proposal for a regulation. The European Commission asked for an additional study by Intertek that was published mid/late 2016. The scope of the study moved from “enterprise servers” to “data centres”. In February 2017, a Consultation Forum took place.

Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council setting a framework for energy labelling and repealing Directive 2010/30/EU

On 26 June 2017, the Council adopted without debate on 26 a regulation setting a framework for energy efficiency labelling, which replaces the current legislation (Directive 2010/30/EU). The regulation establishes deadlines to replace the current A+, A++, A+++ classes with an A to G scale. It also sets out a procedure for rescaling the labels based on technological development, and a new product database as a market surveillance tool. This article provides members with an overview on the new rules and deadline.

On 8 July 2015 these regulations were published.  The first tier for Ecodesign applies from 1 July 2016, the second on 1 July 2018 and the third on 1 July 2019. The transitional methods and a revised tool to calculate SEPR for condensing units have been made available.

On 8 July 2015 these regulations were published.  The first tier for Ecodesign applies from 1 July 2016, the second on 1 July 2018 and the third on 1 July 2019. The related draft communication with the references to standards, draft standards and transitional methods proposed by the Joint Industry Experts Group (JIEG) has been made available.

On 8 December 2015 the Regulatory Committee adopted the draft regulation. The Member States introduced a number of (in their view minor, e.g. on NOx) changes to the text of the draft.
