Notes from meeting on 16 October 2018 available

The European Commission is speeding up the development of EPREL. By the end of November, most, if not all functionalities should become available. Manufacturers are recommended to test the database system. 

Ecodesign and Energy Labelling measures out for Inter Service Consultation

The draft measures for commercial refrigeration (aka DG ENER Lot 12) have been issued on the evening of Friday, 12 October 2018. They are subject to Inter Service Consultation for a very short period, with a tentative deadline of 24 October.  It is expected that the measures will be submitted for consultation and WTO notification by November.

FRONT is a demonstration funded under LIFE, the EU’s financial instrument supporting environmental, nature conservation and climate action projects. It is often referred to as LIFE FRONT. The project runs until 2020 and aims to remove barriers posed by standards for flammable refrigerants and increase the availability of suitable alternatives. The first report has just been published.

Statistical pocketbook 2018 published

The European Commission has released the 2018 pocketbook with data up to 2016. Whereas the first pocketbooks elaborated mainly on energy figures, the 2018 version also covers socio-economic indicators and the impact of the energy sector on the environment.

Seville, 25 September 2018. The ‘Welcome Reception by the Eurovent President’ saw the official opening ceremony of the 2018 Eurovent Summit in Seville, Spain. Through a ribbon-cutting session, the Eurovent President Naci Şahin, the organisers and the representatives of Summit supporters have welcomed close to 500 high-ranking guests from Spain, Europe and beyond to Eurovent’s biennial flagship event. The evening was opened with an official speech by Naci Sahin, which can be read below.

Education on efficient technologies part of focus in emerging markets

Brussels, Jakarta, 5 September 2018. As one of the world’s largest industry associations for Indoor Climate, Process Cooling and Food Cold Chain Technologies, Eurovent is set to support emerging markets with educational programmes by sharing knowledge on energy efficient technologies. A seminar on Energy Efficiency will be held during the 2018 Refrigeration & HVAC Indonesia in Jakarta.

Prototype of EPREL available in the Pilot environment

The prototype of EPREL that has become available on 28 August relates to eight product groups that are not within the sphere of Eurovent. It is expected that the prototypes for professional refrigerated storage cabinets, residential ventilation, air-conditioners, space and water heaters including heat pumps will become available soon.
