On Friday, 13 March, the EU Commission published a communication outlining a series of measures that it is taking to mitigate the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though health issues are a national competence, the European Commission plans actions in four areas to support the Member States. Moreover, on 16 March, the Commission has sent to the Member States a draft proposal for a State Aid Temporary Framework to support the economy in the context of the outbreak. This Temporary Framework will allow full flexibility for Member States under the ‘State aid rules’.

1st stakeholder meeting 2nd phase Smart Readiness Indicator

On 26 March, the Commission hosted the first stakeholder meeting for the second phase of the development of the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI). The meeting aimed at presenting stakeholders with an overview of the previous study focused on the calculation methodology, and to present how the study team aims to structure this study on the practical implementation.

Detailed guidance for authorised representatives and producers of electrical and electronic equipment

The Regulation 2019/290 was published on 20 February 2019 and will apply as of 1 January 2020. Annex I establishes the format for registration detailing all the information requirements needed in Member States for producers (Part A) and for authorised representatives (Part B). The Annex II establishes the format for reporting information of EEE placed on the market. There are no different information requirements for producers and authorised representatives.
