Draft minutes of the 1st meeting held in Seville on 16 November 2017 available

The number of data centres and the associated energy consumption and related environmental impacts continue to increase. Green Public Procurement is expected to ease the burden on energy and environmental resources and would complement the EU Code of conduct for data centres. 28 persons participated in the first meeting. The preliminary findings are outlined below.

The rise in the number and the continued building of new data centres has caught the attention of the European Commission’s DG Environment. Early in 2017, the Joint Research Centre in Seville together with a consortium led by Viegand Maagøe started a study that will develop procurement criteria.
