On 13 October, the European Commission provided an analysis of the recent sharp increase in energy prices and announced in a communication; the publishing of a Factsheet Toolbox for action and support that contains short and medium-term measures that can be implemented by the EU Member States to address the situation.

The European Commission has released the 2021 pocketbook consisting of data up to the year 2020. Whereas the first pocketbooks elaborated mainly on energy figures, the 2021 version also covers socio-economic indicators and the impact of the energy sector on the environment. The International Energy Agency has released on 13 October its annual World Energy Outlook in time for the COP26 meetings.

The Bulletin provides for a hands-on compendium allowing the industry to assess the status quo and expected future developments. The Technical Secretariat of the HLCF has issued the 22-page report of the 1st meeting and invited to the topical meetings 19 October – Digitisation, 20 October – Resilience and 22 October – Green topic.

In 1991 Eurovent, together with the American, Canadian and Japanese associations founded ICARHMA, the International Council of Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating Manufacturers Associations. Meanwhile the membership has increased to eleven members covering many parts of the world. ICARHMA allows the association to discuss global issues related to energy and environmental related issues.

The Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC) was set up as a voluntary partnership in 2015 during the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21). It involves 30+ countries and 100+ members with different backgrounds and fits within the United Nations Environment Programme. The aim is to work towards a zero-emission, efficient, and resilient buildings and construction sector.

The European Commission is organising a webinar for ‘newbies’ on the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) method on Friday, 08 October 2021, 10:00-11:00h (Brussels Time).

From 05 to 06 October 2021, the Eurovent Team is going to be at Indoor-Air 2021 – a German trade fair for ventilation and air quality. Eurovent will be at your disposal for requests concerning legislation, standardisation and general industry developments.

On 28 September the Commission published its 7-page recommendation on Energy Efficiency First: from principles to practice together with a 59-page annex with guidelines and examples for its implementation in decision-making in the energy sector and beyond. 

The release of the final report on BACS is expected soon. A meeting to present the study has been announced for 15 November without Working Documents.
