Heat recovery ventilation is expected to be a major ventilation solution

REHVA and Eurovent have released their guidebook on heat recovery ventilation. It includes the latest ventilation technology and knowledge about the ventilation system performance, intended to be used by HVAC designers, consultants, contractors, and other practitioners. This first joint guidebook of REHVA and Eurovent is part of an increasing cooperation between the two associations, with more publications and joint initiatives to follow.

Brussels, Seville, 16 May 2018. The registration portal and final programme of the EUROVENTSUMMIT are now online. The 2018 edition of Europe’s major gathering for key decision-makers in the area of Indoor Climate (HVAC), Process Cooling, and Food Cold Chain Technologies is going to take place from 25 to 28 September in Seville, Spain. It connects close to 500 industry leaders from Europe, the Middle East, Northern Africa, and international markets throughout around 40 seminars, meetings, and events. The EUROVENTSUMMIT again offers a unique side programme and experiences that go beyond the usual conference experience.

The proposed Primary Energy Factor is being questioned

On 17 January 2018, the European Parliament has adopted a set of amendments regarding the revision of the EED. Besides the overall objectives, the European Parliament proposed to lower the Primary Energy Factor (PEF), which is at 2,5 today. It appears like an agreement would be found to move to 2,3. The consequences are not yet fully understood.

New 'HAS consultants' to replace current 'New Approach (NA) consultants' system

The European Commission is replacing the current system of ‘New Approach (NA) consultants’ with the so-called ‘Harmonised Standards (HAS) consultants’. The HAS consultants’ role is to assess whether the standards drafted by CEN, CENELEC, ETSI comply with the European Commission requests as outlined in the relevant standardisation mandates.

European Parliament Plenary is going to vote on this non-legislative report in May 2018

In mid-2017, the Conference of Presidents, consisting of the President of Parliament and the chairmen of the political groups, authorised the setting up of a Committee to draw up a non-legislative report on Ecodesign.

Europe’s leading manufactures of Air Handling Units (AHUs) are currently developing a comprehensive methodology for Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis. The future Eurovent Recommendation is going to establish a new standard for LCC calculation on the market. The new methodology will contribute to a level-playing field for all manufacturers. It is going to provide a straight-forward and sound way to estimate the total costs related to AHUs throughout the entire lifespan of the system.  

Seminar to explain how to select EN ISO 16890 rated air filter classes for general ventilation applications while making effective use of its Indoor Air Quality potential

On Tuesday, 23 January 2018 from 13:30-14:30h (Brussels time), the Eurovent Association is going to host a Webinar on its new Recommendation 4/23 (2017) on the “Selection of EN ISO 16890 rated air filter class for general ventilation applications”. All HVAC professionals dealing with ventilation systems are invited to join, independent from their Eurovent membership. After a general introduction, participants are invited to ask questions.
