This information allows members to be prepared for developments that can have an impact on them and their products.

A joint non-paper co-signed by 9 Member States (Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Spain) on the Sustainable Products Initiative (SPI) advocates the development of a consistent and complete methodology for assessing the environmental, climate and health impacts of products suggesting the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) could be used as a basis 

From 28 December 2021, the Belgian postal service Bpost must prohibit the sending of mail packaged in plastic (including biodegradable or organic) to any address in the Belgian region Wallonia. Plastic packages will be sanctioned with an amount of € 50/shipment.

The study identified that the renovation rate in the Member States is still low. Less than half of the Member States provide a clear roadmap towards a decarbonised building stock by 2050, while the majority present a high level of ambition, this is not always supported by comprehensive policies.

Member States can rely on EU funded technical assistance to test and implement SRI

The Commission has awarded a two-year service contract to support Member States in the optional testing and rolling out of the SRI. A first newsletter was issued, and the related webpage also updated.

CEN and CENELEC have provided the European Commission with their suggestions on 79 topics. Of these, around 10 numbers relate to Eurovent. A few of the CEN and CENELEC comments are highlighted below.

Survey and questionnaire on PFAS until 19 September 2021

Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Norway have introduced a request to consider a restriction on manufacture, placing on the market and use of PFAS. PFAS are substances that are present in various refrigerants.
