In response to a written question by a Member of the European Parliament (MEP), the Commission has clarified its stance on Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). The Commission’s reply mostly summarises the status quo and reveals no new ambitions to develop an EU policy framework for IAQ.
On a monthly basis, the Eurovent Team compiles a global overview of the latest developments concerning new standardisation activities, technical regulations and legislative developments of relevance for the HVACR industry. The Technical Screening Criteria in Annex I contains some apparent inconsistencies applying to HVACR equipment manufacturing under Article 3.5. These inconsistencies have been pointed out to DG FISMA and DG ENER. Meanwhile, the Platform on Sustainable Finance has published its draft recommendations to the Commission for the remaining 4 environmental objectives, which may also have an impact on HVACR equipment manufacturing. Feedback is open until 24 September.

New version of EPREL (1.53.0) has been released in the ACCEPTANCE environment from Thursday 2 September 2021, to let organisations performing testing and schedule necessary adaptations. The same version will be made available in the PRODUCTION environment from Friday 17 September 2021.

From 28 December 2021, the Belgian postal service Bpost must prohibit the sending of mail packaged in plastic (including biodegradable or organic) to any address in the Belgian region Wallonia. Plastic packages will be sanctioned with an amount of € 50/shipment.
The important players of the industry continue to take their place at the International ISK-SODEX, the leading HVAC&R industry meeting point of the Eurasia Region to be held at Tüyap Fair Congress and Convention Centre between September 29 and October 2, 2021.
