The European Commission is working on an omnibus amendment to the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Regulations published in 2019. The Draft Act amending several pieces of legislation in this field (only to correct minor technical issues) is open for feedback for 4 weeks. Feedback can be provided until 03 November 2020.
The European Consultations start with a ‘Roadmap/Inception Impact Assessment’ followed by a ‘Public consultation’. The Roadmap looks for general comments of the interested persons and stakeholders. The Consultation is the second phase and consists of detailed questionnaires. The industry benefits from responding to these Consultations.
New version of EPREL (1.32.0) has been released on 29 September in the ACCEPTANCE environment. It succeeds two additional updates since the previously announced update on 21 August 2020. The latest version allows for testing and scheduling of necessary adaptations. In the PRODUCTION environment the version of 7 July is still applicable.
New version of EPREL (1.30.0) has been released in the ACCEPTANCE environment. The latest update includes fixes to minor issues signalled by suppliers when manually uploading their product models in the database or using system-to-system communication. It also adds some new functionalities and cosmetic changes. The PRODUCTION environment has not yet been changed.

The UK has also updated its information campaign relating to the end of the transition period, including information for businesses on importing and exporting.

The European Commission and the Consortium presented the first Task reports of the Working Plan 2020-2024 The Working Plan 2020-2024 will act as a bridge for future ‘sustainable product policy initiative’. It may be noted that the Commission has told DG GROW to be ready with a ‘suitable working plan’ by October in case it would be needed.
The consortium in charge of the preparatory study for the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Working Plan 2020-2024 has published draft reports for Task 2 and Task 3 ahead of the stakeholder meeting scheduled for 10 July 2020. The reports deal with the identification and preliminary analysis of product groups and horizontal measures to be considered for inclusion in the Working Plan. Air curtains were included in Task 3. In terms of horizontal measures, circular economy aspects were included.
After two events outside Europe (2017 USA, 2019 China), the 11th International Conference on Energy Efficiency in Domestic Appliances and Lighting (EEDAL) conference returns to Europe in 2021. In 2021, EEDAL will be organised jointly with the International Symposium on Science and Technology of Lighting and will take place from 8 to 10 November in Toulouse, France.
