Eurovent information session: Smart Readiness Indicator

Event date:
Wednesday, 9 September 2020 - 3:00pm to 4:30pm
Venue:
Online (Webex)

In September, the EU is expected to adopt an optional scheme for rating the smart readiness of buildings, the so-called Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI). Development of the SRI stems from Article 8 of the revised EPBD.

The purpose of the SRI is to allow users to rate the capability of buildings to adapt their operation to the needs of the occupant, to optimise energy efficiency and overall performance, and to adapt to signals from the grid. The SRI will raise awareness amongst building owners and occupants of the value of building automation and electronic monitoring of technical building systems, and the cost and energy savings they generate.

The smart readiness impact criteria cover energy efficiency, maintenance and fault prediction, and comfort, recognising ventilation, cooling and heating as smart readiness technical domains. The features of HVAC products (notably in terms of controls) will therefore have a significant impact on the building SRI rating.

The SRI scheme may be optionally implemented by Members States in the national transposition of the revised EPBD. The national schemes will be based on the methodology developed by the European Commission, which will be continuously developed and improved.

In order to familiarise you with the SRI methodology, Eurovent invites you to a dedicated online information session.

Register above by 2 September 2020. Please note that participation is only open to members of the Eurovent Association and is limited to 200 persons. Access will be granted on a first-come-first-serve basis.

During the information session, Mr Andrei Lițiu (invited REHVA expert who participated in the development of the SRI) will give a presentation on:

  • Details of the SRI calculation models and an impact of HVAC systems on the SRI rating
  • Time frame for the SRI implementation in Members States
  • Next steps for the SRI development

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. The final agenda and link to join the information session will be sent to the registered participants in the beginning of September. Meanwhile, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Ms Andrea Gasparova (secretariat@eurovent.eu / +420 775 770 332).
