Recovery from the outbreak in focus

The COVID-19 crisis is impacting the European Commission Work Programme for 2020. The draft Recovery Strategy will focus initiatives that will contribute to overcoming the crisis. This draft would integrate aspects of the Green Deal, digitisation and the initial lessons learned from the crisis.

Eurovent and REHVA call on all relevant authorities in the EU and globally to recognise the manufacturing, distribution, installation, maintenance and repair of HVACR equipment as essential business activities and therefore exempt them from COVID-19 shutdown orders and travel restrictions. HVACR equipment supports critical infrastructure in the healthcare, food cold chain, data centre and building sectors notably. Prolonged shutdown of HVACR manufacturing activities might have severe consequences during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eurovent Middle East, along with the Eurovent Association and other industry organisations warn of severe consequences to critical infrastructure

Dubai, 8 April 2020. Several governments around the world have imposed shutdowns of non-essential businesses as part of the measures to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. In some countries, this includes manufacturers, suppliers and service professionals of HVACR equipment. Eurovent Middle East, along with other international industry organisations have published a Position Paper to warn of severe consequences to critical infrastructure if the supply and servicing of HVACR equipment is halted.

Recommended action for healthcare facilities, facility management providers, building owners and operators

Eurovent Middle East, as the region´s industry association for Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) equipment manufacturers, is calling on healthcare facilities, building owners, operators and facility management providers to carefully observe the following recommendations by the industry to reduce the risks related to the spread of airborne viruses through ventilation and air-conditioning systems and support the government in its efforts to contain the outbreak.

Recommended action for the specification, purchase, installation, operation and maintenance of air filtration systems in critical healthcare appliances

Eurovent Middle East, as the region´s industry association for Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) equipment manufacturers, is encouraging healthcare facilities to carefully observe the following recommendations by the industry to reduce the risks related to the spread of airborne viruses through air filtration and ventilation systems and properly instruct all personnel involved in the specification, purchase, installation, operation and maintenance of such systems.
