Season’s greetings from Eurovent

21 December 2021

Dear members, partners and friends,

On behalf of the entire Eurovent family, I wish you a happy and healthy holiday season and successful New Year. Thank you very much for your continued support, commitment and hard work in bringing our joint European industry ideals forward.

New Presidency and important industry developments

In May, I had the privilege of being elected Eurovent President and, together with my colleagues on the Board of Directors, we have developed an ambitious plan for the association. Our focus will be on further building out our digital infrastructure, strengthening international partnerships, raising awareness on the important role our industry plays in the welfare of society, and making sure that the policies of the European Green Deal fully deliver on the promise held by our industry for decarbonisation. 2022 will be a crucial year in all these respects.

For Eurovent and its subunits, 2021 was marked with many developments, of which I would like to share a few. At the Eurovent Association, we worked hard on strengthening Indoor Environmental Quality, a cornerstone of building sustainability, in the revised EPBD – a work which is yet to continue next year. We reinforced our cooperation with multiple international strategic partners, including ABRAVA, the CoolCoalition and FAIAR. We published 4 highly demanded Industry Recommendations, 2 Guidebooks and 6 international translations of our publications. We held 2 successful webinars, participated in 3 physical exhibitions, welcomed 8 new members, and expanded the Eurovent Secretariat by 1 new colleague.

Our subunit Eurovent Certita Certification, which runs the globally recognised ‘Eurovent Certified Performance’ schemes, has expanded its portfolio of certification programmes with Air Cleaners, Fans and Indoor Air Quality & Energy Efficiency of Ventilation Systems. Today, it is running 48 successful programmes worldwide and experiencing steadily increasing participation rates.

Eurovent Middle East, our local chapter in Dubai, is concluding its 5th year of existence as a respected independent industry association in the region. To celebrate this occasion, it will hold its first Industry Summit next year, which will reflect on some of the most pressing issues of our sector. The event will specifically target government stakeholders to discuss policies and strategies for more sustainable future and will see the launch of the Eurovent Middle East HVACR Leadership Academy.

Challenges that grow into new opportunities

During the past year, the HVACR industry was challenged but has also shown resilience. The global supply chain crisis has resulted in raw material and component shortages, transport issues, delays and cost increases. These notwithstanding, many segments are underway to recovery from the 2020 downturns, under growing influence from government subsidies, tax incentives and recovery instruments. In this tumultuous context, manufacturers will also have to adapt to new design and market constraints from key pieces of EU legislation currently under review. As an industry, we have our work cut out for us, but there are tremendous opportunities to be seized.

More can be learned from a recent special report on post-pandemic HVACR market trends by Eurovent Market intelligence (EMI), which includes a 5-year forecast, as well as the main market drivers and challenges. EMI meanwhile collects real market data from over 400 participants from 50+ countries, covering 80% of the European market across its 16 programmes. 2022 will see the launch of additional 2 statistical programmes.

Happy New Year

On a different note, allow me to invite all of you to the long-awaited EUROVENTSUMMIT, the major European gathering for our industry, which will take place from 25 to 28 October 2022 in Antalya, Turkey. The event will give us the opportunity to build bridges between the European and global HVACR industry stakeholders, to further facilitate the recovery of our market.

2022 will be full of exciting developments. In that spirit, once again, Eurovent wishes you all the best in the New Year!

Yours truly,

Raul Corredera Haener
