New Year's letter from Eurovent

We wish our members, partners and friends peaceful and happy holidays, and a successful New Year. May it bring joy, growth and flourishing business opportunities to all. For Eurovent and its units Eurovent Middle East, Eurovent Certita Certification and Eurovent Market Intelligence, 2022 was marked with many important developments, of which we’d like to share a few.

In October, after two postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we finally had the chance to host our biennial flagship event, 2022 Eurovent Summit in Antalya, Türkiye, co-organised with our Turkish Member Association ISKID. With 271 participants from 29 countries and under the theme #BuildingBridges, our fourth Summit has yet again proven itself to be the key event for the HVACR industry in Europe and beyond. The announcement of date and location of the next Summit is expected in early 2023, keep your eyes peeled not to miss the news.

For Eurovent, the year was driven by expansion of its international reach, underlined by an establishment of a new international chapter for the Indian region. Eurovent members and certified companies active and manufacturing in India have formed a local working group enabling coordinated activities in awareness raising, education and strengthening of our joint industry IAQ and energy efficiency principles and standards. On the European level, our members were busy accompanying many European regulatory developments, including the F-Gas Regulation, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, and the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation. In addition, the generation change of the association reached its finish line with the retirement of its former long-term Secretary General Felix Van Eyken, and the appointment of Francesco Scuderi to assume the role.

Eurovent Middle East, our local chapter in Dubai, concluded its 5th year as the HVACR Industry Association in the region. The occasion was celebrated with a high-ranking industry congress that attracted over 350 attendees and set a new benchmark for the local industry. The event addressed ever more pressing issues for this region, which heavily depends on cooling and refrigeration to sustain its socio-economic development. Eurovent Middle East is set to follow these issues closely throughout 2023 and beyond. For the next year, the chapter has an ambitious plan ready, which foresees several physical events in Saudi Arabia, the launch of an academy programme, and several interesting projects proposed by and to governmental organisations in the region.

Our subunit Eurovent Certita Certification (ECC), globally known for its quality mark ‘Eurovent Certified Performance’, is experiencing steadily rising participation numbers, with an increasing global recognition. The certified product directory on the ECC website has recently exceeded 300k listed certified products. For the HVACR industry, ECC plays an important role in establishing a level playing field for manufacturers by certifying performances while guaranteeing the fundamental integrity of their product lines.

Eurovent Market Intelligence (EMI), our subunit and the European statistics office for the HVACR market, published special European market insights, dealing with the component shortage and the energy crisis in 2022. Amid recovery from the pandemic, the sector is now mainly hit by supply chain disruptions. While the gravity of its impact varies among products, this shortage of components results in two very visible impacts on the market: a general increase in prices and longer delivery times. The price increase accelerated to reach +9% in the first half of 2022. Manufacturers, however, expect a lull for the second half of the year and it seems that peak is behind us.

Thank YOU, our members, partners and friends for a successful year. It is our wish that 2023 will begin on a positive note for all – our industry has plenty to look forward to. Eurovent will continue its ongoing reform and members can look forward to many exciting new projects and initiatives. Once again, the Eurovent family wishes you and yours a happy and healthy holiday season and a prosperous New Year.

Kind regards,

Your Eurovent Team
