GEN - 870.00. On 30 March 2019, the United Kingdom will leave the European Union and then become a 'third country'. Subject to any transitional arrangement that may be contained in a possible withdrawal agreement, the European Union rules no longer apply to the United Kingdom. This will impact importers, authorised representatives and conformity assessment procedures.
Commission information on Brexit
On 22 January 2018, EC DG Grow published the enclosed notice to stakeholders on the withdrawal of the UK and the EU rules in the field of industrial products.
Most if not all products covered by Eurovent are subject to one or more European rules (directives, regulations, decisions), and the manufacturers will be impacted by the UK leaving the EU.
The enclosed notice is the first that aims to provide some information. One part addresses the economic operators (importers, authorised representative), the other part addresses the conformity assessment procedure and is important for companies that use and rely on UK notified bodies.
There is a possibility that between now and 30 March 2019 other documents will be specifying details.
All members are strongly recommended to read the notice by DG Grow and to undertake the necessary actions to safeguard their interest both in the EU and in UK.
