The Ecodesign Preparatory Study on Smart Appliances (Lot 33) started in 2014 and published its final reports in 2018. Smart appliances support Demand Side Flexibility (DSF). The Commission has asked its Joint Research Centre (JRC) to support the development of policy proposals for energy smart appliances.
