GEN – 1423.00. On 28 September the 3rd (final) Stakeholder meeting of the WP7 – Air conditioners and comfort fans took place. EEPLIANT3 (Energy Efficiency Compliant Products 2018) is the largest pan-EU Concerted Action on market surveillance.
The WP7 focused on electric mains operated air conditioners with cooling capacity of up to 12 kW (or heating, if there is no cooling function) + comfort fans (up to 125 W – only Ecodesign), including single and multi-split air conditioners and single and double ducts appliances.
The products were selected for screening based on a risk assessment, choosing for first products with high probability of non-compliance but also high market share.
Results show high percentage of errors during the document inspection, high percentage (41%) of products which are not present in EPREL, a proposal from MSAs to include a tolerance on heating and cooling capacity in the future legislation.
For split units, an issue related to data availability for verification testing led to a set of proposals from MSAs:
- It should be compulsory that data needed for MSA tests is available on EPREL
- The modes needed for MSA tests shall be accessible without extra remotes
- Alternatively, a new measurement method could be introduced that does not require such additional data and extra remotes
