Definition
The collection covers the ventilation units with alternate and continuous flow (bidirectional).
Alternating ventilation unit (Regulation 1253 /EN 13141-8): a mechanical ventilation device using storage heat exchanger operating in opposite, synchronised periodically changing air flow direction incorporated in common casing.
Bidirectional ventilation unit /BVU (Regulation (EU) No 1253/2014): a ventilation unit which produces an air flow between indoors and outdoors in the single room and is equipped with heat recovery and both exhaust and supply fans.
COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) No 1253/2014
Residential RHRV unit means a ventilation unit where:
1- the maximum flow rate does not exceed 250 m3/h;
2- the maximum flow rate is between 250 and 1 000 m3/h, and the manufacturer declares its intended use as being exclusively for a residential ventilation application.
Collection details
The collection was launched in 2025, data collections are organised annually.
The data on units with alternate and continuous flow is collected separately. For alternate ventilation units, the data includes the sub-splits by airflow and share of units with different types of controls (remote or wifi). For bidirectional/continuous flow units the data includes the segments of airflow, type of heat recovery (incl. separately HRV and ERV), type of mounting (wall-mounted, ceiling-mounted) and share of units with bypass and with pre-heater.
For both types of products, the data is collected for the year Y and the previous year Y-1, both in units and euro.
