Brussels, 04 June 2024. The Eurovent Product Group Liquid Chilling Packages and Heat Pumps (PG-LCP-HP) has published a recommendation, 18/2 SEPR for Very High Temperature Process Chillers.

The Recommendation presents the proposal for a dedicated index for Very High-Temperature Process Chillers in the context of the revision of the Regulation (EU) 2016/2281. Currently, the Regulation (EU) 2016/2281 addresses High Temperature Process Chillers with inlet/outlet water Temperature at the evaporator 12/7°C with a dedicated efficiency index, called Seasonal energy performance ratio (SEPR).

Mariano Covolo, Vice-Chairperson of the Product Group ‘Liquid Chilling Packages and Heat Pumps’ stated: “We noticed that more and more chillers are addressed to Process and IT Cooling applications with evaporator conditions much higher than 12/7°C. As the European HVACR industry, we feel the responsibility to define a dedicated reference condition that allows the users of such applications to compare different proposals in terms of efficiency and price easily. On top of that, we are proud to underline that the seasonal index defined by this Recommendation is also viable for a minimum efficiency requirement that today is completely missing for the mentioned extensive and booming applications.”

The Eurovent Product Group ‘Liquid Chilling Packages and Heat Pumps’ covers air- and water-source chillers and hydronic heat pumps of all sizes, including reversible and polyvalent units, for thermal comfort, process cooling, and other applications. It accompanies relevant legislation concerning these products, such as the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling measures under ENER Lot 1 and ENER Lot 21. It is also engaged with the development of standards and industry recommendations, and general promotion of the industry and its technologies. The document can be downloaded free of charge in the Eurovent Document Library.
